Higelin rose to prominence as a singer in the early 1970s and remained active on records and on stage until 2016.
A regular collaborator of Areski and Brigitte Fontaine, Higelin was also known for his political activism. He was the father of Arthur H (singer, songwriter), Kên Higelin (actor, director) and Izïa Higelin (singer, actress).
