Slave Cylinder was formed in Memphis, TN in 1995, taking their name from a comic by James O'Barr in the "Bonesaw" anthology compiled by John Bergin. After a brief flirtation with industrial rock, 1997 saw SC's rebirth as a largely improvised harsh noise outfit after a move to Bloomington, IN the previous year. The band shifted to a focus on rhythmic power noise with the releases "Mild Abrasives" in 2000 and "ADHD Schematics" in 2003. Compilation tracks, remixes, and live recordings in a variety of noise-related styles have appeared in the years since.
