Husband of Delta Hicks and lifelong resident of Fentress Co., Tennessee whose family were traditional folk song performers and collectors. Discovered in 1978, he and his wife, Delta, contributed roughly 400 songs to the Library of Congress folk archives.Brother of Joe Hicks (5), Nancy Hicks Winningham & Besford Hicks.
