Hickory Wind
Effective period / Period of releases: 1969
Members: Bobby Strehl, Mike McGuyer, Alan Jones (22), Sonny Prentice (2)
US late 60s psych band from Evansville, IN.Two members had previously been in the Kentucky-based Rouges. The album was released by local label Gigantic Records. Some sources report 100 copies pressed, but the band remembers there being many more than that, though the bulk of the pressing seems to have disappeared. Their only album, combined with the fact that the music is atmospheric psychedelic rock with a rural/country flavor, has made it an expensive collector’s item. Comparisons to two west coast bands, Moby Grape and Kak, have been made. According to the band, they played few live shows, and upon breaking up, morphed into B.F. Trike, without Sonny Prentice and Carl Rodenberg
