American blues singer, born January 2, 1903 in St. Louis, Missouri, died February 28, 1988 in the same city. Wife of Jesse Johnson.
Johnson recorded for QRS, Paramount, OKeh and Vocalion in 1928-1929. She was again recorded by Sam Charters in 1961; these recordings were intended for release on Bluesville, but were not released until 1984 on Henry Brown, Edith Johnson - Barrelhouse Piano & Classic Blues.
