American jazz and rhythm & blues pianist, arranger, composer and bandleader, born August 31, 1900 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, died June 4, 1965 in Detroit (or) Flint, Michigan.Rhodes played and recorded with McKinney's Cotton Pickers (1928-1931), The Chocolate Dandies (1928), Jean Goldkette (1929) and led and recorded with his own rhythm & blues band from 1947 to 1954. He also worked with rhythm & blues singers such as Hank Ballard, Wynonie Harris and others.
