Turkish conductor, violinist and pianist, best known for performing "modern" arrangements of Turkish folk songs. He was employed by the Directorate General of Fine Arts of the Turkish Ministry of Education and sent to the United States in 1957 to study American music, broadcasting and television and act as a cultural ambassador. A year later he was appointed Director of Music for the Turkish government.
