In 1966 he graduated from the Music and Fine Arts High School in Timișoara.
After graduating from high school, he becomes a student at the Gheorghe Dima Conservatory of Music in Cluj and a member of the Marțișorul ensemble of the Student House in Cluj as a vocal soloist under the guidance of the tarago player Dumitru Fărcaș.
