Carl Axel Lundvall

Swedish composer, born 30 June 1840 in Kristianstad, died April 26, 1909 in hospital in Stockholm.

He was the son of an artilleryman in the Wendes Artillery Regiment. Carl Axel partly followed in his father's footsteps and was employed as a battery trumpeter in 1855. He was appointed music sergeant in 1863, but was transported to the Kalmar regiment, where he became a field musician in 1869. The last move was to Karlsborg and the Sappörbataljonen (a predecessor of the Göta engineer regiment) in 1879. Then he was music sergeant of the first class and from 1882 music fan and director of music (with the title of regimental trumpeter) until his retirement in 1893.

The son Gustaf Lundvall later took up the same position at the Göta engineering corps.
