Kolisch Quartet

Classical string quartet ensemble founded in 1922 in Vienna by Rudolf Kolisch for the performance of Schoenberg's works. It was originally named "Neues Wiener Streichquartett" (not to be confused with the 1960s New Vienna String Quartet!). In 1927 its name was changed for Kolisch Quartet. The group disbanded in the United States during the early 1940s.
