He was married to Maria Constantin. They had three children.
He graduated Popular School of Arts.
After finishing eighth grade, he was employed as a tractor driver at a company in Craiova.
Matei Constantin released 9 albums and singles, two of church music.
He composed over 500 songs, had numerous collaborations with many orchestras and ensembles.
