Hazel Scott

Real name: Hazel Dorothy Scott.

Effective period / Period of releases: 1941 - 1958

American jazz (and classical) pianist and singer.
Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, Scott performed jazz, blues, ballads, Broadway and boogie-woogie songs, and classical music in various nightclubs. She was an outspoken critic of racial discrimination and segregation and used her influence to improve the representation of Black Americans in film.

Born : June 11, 1920 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Died : October 02, 1981 in New York City, New York.
Wife of Adam Clayton Powell from 1945 to 1960. In 1961, she married Ezio Bedin, a Swiss-born comedian.
