Lunophobia

Real name: Лунофобия

Effective period / Period of releases: 1999 - 2001

A Saint-Petersburg gothic band Lunophobia is fairly well-known in its native city thanks to regular concerts, and Muscovites also heard them on the latest Halloween party "Edge of the Night II", which was organized by Russian Gothic Project in the "Cry" nightclub. Nevertheless, there are not so many releases of this band, which isn't very surprising - it's rather hard for a Russian gothic band to release a CD or a cassette of its own, for there are no labels that would be interested in such production. So there is only one way left - to release it themselves. And it was exactly this kind of release that performed the debut CD of Lunophobia "Dreaming of the Sun", and the new CD-R single "Beneath the Snow" came to us like that. The single contains three songs: "She", "Beneath the Snow" and "It's a Dream!" Those who were in "Cry" heard them all, but the version was more hard; the studio variant gives a sound that is much more calm and melodic. "She" and "Beneath the Snow" can even be described as gothic pop (on the base of gothic rock), and the last track ("It's a Dream!") is close to darkwave, more gloomy and avant-garde. Russian Gothic Compilation performed "Beneath the Snow". We couldn't decide whether to take it or "She"; both are hits, with good lyrics in Russian, with a catchy melody and good performance, but still we decided to take the more "pop" "Beneath the Snow". The band itself seems to have marked out this song, and named the single after it.
