Pandit Balaram Pathak - father of Ashok Pathak and Vinode Pathak - was an important sitar and surbahar player from North India. He was born on 5 November 1926 in Balia, Uttar Pradesh and passed away on 15 February 1991, in New Delhi. He was awarded the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1989.
