Japanese band from Sapporo, formed in 1984, originally started as a hardcore punk band. They were one of the prominent bands in the underground scene in the Sapporo area during the late '80s to early '90s and were closely associated with the other local bands like Scanners (11) (Eastern Youth) and Bloodthirsty Butchers. One of Dohatsuten's founders and their guitarist Tomoyasu Kamiharako previously played in 畜生 (Chikusho) (with B.T. Butchers and LSD members) and briefly in the late era of LSD (11) which consisted of all Chikusho members except the singer at that time. After putting out a number of albums and singles both on inependent and major labels for years, the band finally started to get significant attention from mass audiences with a mainstream success in the late 2000's. Dohatsuten's current and unique music style ranges from punk, alternative rock, new wave, R&R, hard rock and enka rock.
