Percy Sutton
Real name: Percy Ellis Sutton
American political and business leader.Born November 24, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
Died December 26, 2009 (aged 89) in New York City, USA.
Brother of judge Oliver Sutton.
In 1971, Sutton co-founded the Inner City Broadcasting Corporation which purchased New York City's WLIB-AM, and WBLS FM the city's first African-American-owned radio station. He produced the show It's Showtime at the Apollo, a syndicated, music television show first broadcast on September 12, 1987. Percy, along with his brother and Hal Jackson (Harold Jackson) (DJ and radio network owner with the Suttons), were considered black pioneers in radio.
