Oliver Sutton
Real name: Judge Oliver Carter Sutton Sr.
American judge and black radio pioneer.Born September 18,1916 in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
Died July 15, 1983 (aged 66) in Harlem, New York, USA.
Brother of politician Percy Sutton.
Oliver Sutton was the first African American on the New York Supreme Court.
In 1971, Sutton co-founded the Inner City Broadcasting Corporation which purchased New York City's WLIB-AM, and WBLS FM the city's first African-American-owned radio station. Oliver, along with his brother and Hal Jackson (Harold Jackson) (DJ and radio network owner with the Suttons), were considered black pioneers in radio.
