Rui Duna

Effective period / Period of releases: 1983 - 1985

Rui Fernando da Silva Costa was born in Luena, Moxico, in 1959, and had his first contact with music at the age of eight, in the church choir. Six years later he joined the group Arco Iris, where he sang Roberto Carlos songs.

In 1977, after taking part in the armed struggle in Moxico, he was forced to take refuge in Zambia with his family, and then moved to Portugal, where he recorded two albums: Memórias (1980) and Cá e Lá (1985). With this last album, he reached number one in the Angolan charts due to the success of the theme "Any, Any" aka "Olha a bunda dela".
