Curtis Dublin

Effective period / Period of releases: 1950 - 1953

Curtis Dublin (March 9, 1927 – December 29, 1964), was a gospel pianist. He joined The Davis Sisters group in 1947 when he was 19 years old. He also served in the United States armed forces as a PFC Officer in World War II. Although he had known the young blood Davis sisters for years, it was speculated that he was a distant cousin. He played piano with a strong jazz, bouncy rag-time influence which many early church-goers were slow to accept as religious music in the very early 1950s. He lived on the second floor of the Davis family home in Philadelphia where he also died from a heart attack.
