The Mark V

The Mark V was a R&B band from Florence, Alabama active from 1958-1960 whose members included David Briggs (piano), Dan Penn (guitar), Jerry Carrigan (drums), Norbert Putnam (bass), Jerry Saylor (vocals/saxophone), Dan Havely (trumpet), and Marlin Greene (guitar/vocals). Briggs, Putnam, and Carrigan, along with Terry Thompson and Earl “Peanutt” Montgomery later became the original house rhythm section at Fame Studios from 1961-1964.
