Born November 6, 1939, R. Harlan Smith is a Canadian singer, songwriter, producer, publisher and two-time Juno Award nominee. In 1972 he founded the record company R. Harlan Smith Music Ltd. and the publishing company Helping Hand Music Ltd. In 1974 he founded the record company Royalty Records Of Canada Ltd. along with its label Royalty Records (8). He is the husband of Danish-Canadian country singer Chris Nielsen (2).
