Nel Monteiro was born in Resende, Viseu, Portugal (11 May 1945). In 1984 he recorded "Azar na Praia" influenced by Jorge Machado. In 1985 he recorded "Retrato Sagrado" for Cândida Branca Flor. He wrote also songs for Dino Meira, Emanuel, Chiquita and Luis Filipe Reis. In 1994 he released his most successfull song "Bronca na discoteca” and in 2006 the infamous "Puta, Vida, Merda, Cagalhões".
