American flatpick guitarist, singer, songwriter and educator. Born April 16, 1940 in Danville, Kentucky. Died November 19, 2022.
Married Deanie Murphy in 1968. In 1970, they co-formed County Line with Jack Pearman, Newell Looney and Mike Breid.
In October 1984, Murphy and David Wilson formed Radio Flyer (2) with Roger Matthews and Steve Duede. Radio Flyer broke up in 2002 but Wilson and Murphy continued playing dates together as a duo, and the band had a reunion show in April 2011.
