Dennis Johnson (1938-2018) was an American composer. He is credited as having composed the first "minimal" composition ‘November’, for solo piano, in 1959. ‘November’ was one of the inspirations for La Monte Young’s 1964 composition ‘The Well-Tuned Piano’. Johnson gave up music around 1962 and moved into mathematics at Caltech.
