The Hot Shots were founded in 1971 in Hamburg to bring the black jazz music of the Roaring Twenties to life. The band aspired from the beginning to a simple copying. The legacy of Louis Armstrong, Johnny Dodds, Joe King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton and Clarence Williams is managed by this band.
Hardly any band plays the authentic jazz in style and sound as the hot shots. With own arrangements there is enough room for free improvisation and a distinctive sound.
Performances in radio and television and at festivals in Germany and abroad are as popular as regular appearances in the Hamburg clubs, such as Cotton Club and lightship. At the traditional international jazz festival in Breda / Holland the Hot Shots won the 3rd place in 1984 and the 2nd place in 1988. The Hot Shots toured Denmark, Hong Kong, Macau, the Netherlands, Scotland, Sweden, Spain and the US, where they attend the world-famous Mardi Gras Festival
