YAUNZEM Irma Petrovna (1897-1975)Russian singer (mezzo-soprano), Latvian by origin, teacher, People's Artist of the RSFSR (1957).
Since the mid-1920s, Irma Jaunzem was one of the first in the USSR to collect and perform songs of the peoples of the world, in more than 50 languages. In the pre-war years - one of the most popular singers in the USSR.
In 1940, she participated in the annexation of the USSR of Latvia, arriving there together with A. Ya. Vyshinsky. She traveled around the republic, performed concerts and simultaneously made calls to live in the Union.
