Ryu Goto (b. 13 July 1988) is a Japanese-American violinist from New York City, half-brother of renowned Midori. At age seven, trained solely by his mother, Goto debuted with Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 1 at The Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan. In the mid-2000s, Ryu Goto attended 's Pre-College Division for two years, studying under Stefan Milenković. Instead of pursuing further musical education, however, the young violinist attended Harvard University, majoring in Physics. In 2005, Deutsche Grammophon signed Ryu. The violinist plays on 1722 'Jupiter, ex-Goding' Stradivarius, on loan from Nippon Music Foundation.
