Tova Ben-Zvi (Hebrew: טובה בן-צבי), born in Łódź, Poland, in 1928, is a singer and the daughter of cantor and composer Hirsch Hanoch. She lost her entire family during the Holocaust before immigrating to Israel in September 1945. Ben-Zvi quickly became a prominent figure in Israeli music, renowned for her performances of Yiddish and Israeli songs. Her professional music career was launched in the 1950s, with notable success coming from the hit "Ein Gedi," co-performed with Shmuel Bar-Zakai. This song, among others, showcases her commitment to preserving Jewish cultural heritage through music.Educated at the Jerusalem Conservatory and having served in the Israeli military's entertainment troupe, Ben-Zvi's work spans a variety of genres, including children's music, Yiddish classics, and songs of the Israeli landscape. Her 1997 album "For We Shall Remember and Not Forget," dedicated to her lost family, features Holocaust-era songs, underscoring her connection to the tragedy.
An international performer, Ben-Zvi has also made significant contributions to Holocaust education through her poetry and educational talks, coupled with music presentations.
