Peter Brady

Effective period / Period of releases: 1960 - 2011

Peter/Pete Brady is a baritone singer born in Canada, grew up in Indiana, spent much of life in Florida.
July 6, 1929 - October 23, 2018, age 89.

Pete initially split his time between acting and singing. Pete did a lot of touring in the late 1950's, before recording his first album for ABC Paramount.

In 1965, Pete's third album was picked up by Capitol records. He had self-produced the album. Capitol executives liked what they heard. The label refunded Brady for the cost of the album and paid him to re-record his vocals at Studio A in Hollywood with fresh arrangements. Pete was briefly considered as the labels replacement for Frank Sinatra. He toured extensively to support the album, but with little success. Music was moving on and new "crooners" were not where the action was.

Pete settled in Florida and continued to perform, mostly locally. According to a 2001 article in the Tampa Bay Times, in 1970, Pete was hit in the throat in a pro-celebrity tennis match, damaging his larynx leaving him unable to sing.

In 1998, Brady while singing in the in the shower, realized that his voice and range had returned. Subsequently, Brady self-produced four albums of big band music which were independently released. He also released a 2011 Christmas songs album that is available from Bandcamp and other online sources.

Pete died in North Carolina after an illness, and is survived by his wife Connie Fay-Brady and daughter, Maureen Brady.
