Vanilla was a pioneering French emo band founded in 1992 by brothers Yann Maisonneuve (vocals and guitar) and Yves Maisonneuve (drums). Both of them simultaneously played in Ivich. The line-up was completed with Jean Lebrun (2) on bass. In the mid-1990's, Alain Vidal joined on bass and Lebrun switched to second guitar.

After the release of their album Plays "Fantastique", Cédric Manine joined Vanilla as lead vocalist. When Vidal left in 2006, the band decided to change its name from Vanilla to You Will Never Appear On TV With Such A Face. After more line-up changes, the Maisonneuve brothers again changed the name of the band to Ride That Sexy Horse.
