Spanish band from Tenerife (Canary Islands) formed at the beginning of 1966 by Jose Ramón González (drums ex -Los Trixon, previous name of Los Aguacates), Falo Temes (bass player of Los Apaches), Ernesto Beteta (flutist, saxophonist), Marisol Cruz (singer), Luis Mañero (violinist, vibraphonist) and Francisco González "Pacolín" (piano). This last one was replaced shortly after by Paco Padrón to participate in the II Festival of the Atlantic Song of Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife and in the IX Song Festival of Benidorm, both events in 1967. They recorded their first four singles with the spanish label Belter located in Barcelona, the first of which included the songs performed in the contest (“Por las Mañanitas” and “La Trampa”). They changed then the pianist for Pedro Pérez and made several tours through the Canary and the Balearic Islands during the three successive years recording at that time a fifth EP (“El Domingo en mi Pueblo”). In 1970, the singer, Marisol Cruz - a voice of crystalline and powerful tessitura - is replaced by María de los Ángeles Carballo which means a change in the characteristic and already recognizable "sound" of the band. Los Aguacates edited two new EP but soon after the feminine voice left the band happening to be a quintet that changed its name by Banana Combo. Los Aguacates with its original singer, Marisol Cruz, enjoyed great prestige in the Canary Islands, capable of offering an eclectic and quality repertoire ranging from light song, bossa nova, samba, mambo, South American song and some versions of The Beatles , Procol Harum and even a famous recreation of the 4th movement Mozart's 40th Symphony, with orchestral arrangements as Waldo de los Ríos style. They were also the most requested band in those years to animate tourism in the select hotels in Tenerife.

(Spanish Translation) Banda tinerfeña formada a principios de 1966 por Jose Ramón González (batería de Los Trixon, nombre anterior de Los Aguacates), Falo Temes (bajista de Los Apaches), Ernesto Beteta (flautista, saxofonista), Marisol Cruz (cantante), Luis Mañero (violinista, vibrafonista) y Francisco González "Pacolín" (piano). Este último es sustituido poco después por Paco Padrón para participar en el II Festival de la Canción del Atlántico del Puerto de la Cruz en Tenerife y en el IX Festival de la Canción de Benidorm, ambos eventos en el año 1967. Graban entonces sus primeros cuatro EP con la discográfica Belter, el primero de ellos con los temas presentados en el concurso peninsular (Por las Mañanitas y La Trampa). Vuelven a cambiar al pianista por Pedro Pérez y realizan varias giras por la Islas Canarias y Baleares durante los tres años sucesivos grabando por entonces un quinto EP (El Domingo en mi Pueblo). En 1970, la cantante, Marisol Cruz - una voz de tesitura cristalina y potente - es sustituida por María de los Ángeles Carballo cuyo registro es más grave, lo que supone un cambio en el "sello" característico y ya reconocible de la banda. Con ella editan dos nuevos EP pero pronto el conjunto queda sin la voz femenina pasando a ser un quinteto que cambia su nombre por el de Banana Combo. Los Aguacates con su cantante original, Marisol Cruz, gozaron de gran prestigio en las Islas Canarias, capaces de brindar un repertorio ecléctico y de calidad que iba desde la canción ligera, bossa nova, samba, mambo, canción sudamericana y algunas versiones de The Beatles, Procol Harum y hasta una famosa recreación del 4º movimiento de la 40 Sinfonía de Mozart, con arreglos orquestales a lo Waldo de los Ríos. Fueron también la banda musical más solicitada en aquellos años para animar y ambientar las noches en los selectos hoteles de la isla de Tenerife.
