American jazz bassist, born September 2, 1915 in Miami, Florida, died November 3, 1996.Moncur played with (among others) Savoy Sultans, Billie Holiday, Mildred Bailey, and with own bands.
Father of Grachan Moncur III, jazz trombonist and composer, and half-brother of Al Cooper.
