Laymon Jackson

Jazz bassist.

Born: April 4, 1932 in Atlanta, GA
Died: October 7, 1993 in Atlanta, GA

Attended David T. Howard High school Later he was enlisted in the army.Where he met and played with many up and coming jazz artists. Moved to New York in 1959, and quickly became a studio sideman. Recording with Lou Donaldson, Nat Aderrley, Herbie Hancock, Pepper Adams, Donald Byrd, Jimmy Cobb, Wynton Kelly, Albert Heath, Duke Pearson, Slide Hampton

Played with the Paul Mitchell Trio at Dante's Down The Hatch in Atlanta, the trio is discussed in the documentary about the restaurant/jazz bar. By the mid-1980's also had his own Trio, with Allen Murphy and George Dogias.
