Jimmy Jones started his career with the Southern Sons in 1953, and went to the sing Sons Of The South in 54-55, and then the Harmonizing Four from 1955-58. Jones later sang with the Dixie Hummingbirds in 1987.
Jimmy Jones recorded for Savoy, Gospel Recording Co., Jas and Gospel Truth (Stax). His first recordings were made in 1958 as Jimmy Jones and Chorus. After that he recorded as Jimmy Jones and the Sensationals, Jimmy Jones and the Northern Aires (or the Northernairs) and under his own name. On the Gospel Recording Co. release his name was given as Jimmey Jones.
