Smokin' Joe Kubek was an American electric blues guitarist and songwriter, born November 30, 1956 in Grove City, Pennsylvania, USA, although he grew up near Dallas. As a teenager, he played for a short while with Freddie King, and from the 80s, he played, toured and recorded with Bnois King until his death.

Joe Kubek died from a heart attack in his sleep in Wilmington, North Carolina, on October 11, 2015, shortly before he was due to take the stage at the Pleasure Island Seafood & Blues Festival, headlined by Dr. John. He was survived by his wife since 1999, Phyllis.
