Real name: Suzanne Mallouk

Suzanne Mallouk became integrated into the downtown New York art scene through her relationship with artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in the early 1980s. The memoir Widow Basquiat chronicles her love affair with Basquiat as his muse. Mallouk was dating graffiti artist Michael Stewart at the time of his death from police brutality in 1983. In the late 1980s, she performed under the name Ruby Desire and recorded a cover of Donna Summer's "Bad Girls," She also had a club hit with the band Madagascar with the song "Like This Like That".
