Singer Ãngela Barra was born in the Brazilian city Goiânia in central-west Brazil. She first studied singing at the Federal University of Goiâs' Institute for the Arts in her native Goiânia under Honorina Barra Santana de Souza, and completed her education at the University of Indiana in Bloomington with Vera Scammon. Although Barra spent some time competing in international singing competitions, she has concentrated most of her efforts in Brazil, where in Curitiba she sang in the Latin American premiere of Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio. Barra also frequently sings and records with the Chamber Orchestra of Blumenau.
