Biography

Elmer Briand
Elmer Briand (1922 – 1991) Cape Breton Fiddler
Elmer Briand is of the French Acadian descent, but had much exposure to the Celtic culture through his father, who was a piper, and his mother who was a Gaelic speaker. In his early teen years, he moved to Halifax with his family and became acquainted with many Inverness-styled fiddlers. His exposure to that style of music and his careful studying of its bowing intricacies helped to develop his sound.
