Nickey Barclay

Effective period / Period of releases: 1976

American keyboardist, singer and songwriter, active late 1960s to mid 1970s. Having moved to Los Angeles and found work as a player-for-hire, in 1970 she was invited to join Fanny (2) who were looking for a female keyboardist to round out the group as they were recording their first album. After beginning to work with them, she went on tour with Joe Cocker as keyboardist and backing singer, but ultimately committed to Fanny full-time, becoming their most prolific songwriter over their five studio albums. She continued occasional session work, sometimes under other pseudonyms. Following Fanny's break-up she recorded one solo LP before leaving the commercial music industry and moving to the UK.
