Edden Hammons

(c.1874 - 1955) Traditional fiddler from east-central West Virginia. He can be seen in an extant newsreel of the World War II era fiddling for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. In 1947, a West Virginia professor recorded him performing fifty of his songs. The 1970s efforts of a neighboring musician brought wider notice to Hammons' workIn 2020, Edden was inducted to the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame (as part of the Hammons clan).
