André Baptista
André Baptista was born in Lisbon the 19th April. Then, he moved to Sines where he spent all his childhood.
In 2009, his first work, produced by Gonçalo Salgueiro and edited by CNM (Companhia Nacional de Música) is called “Um Fado Nasce”, a tribute to Alberto Janes, author of some of the greatest hits of Portuguese music. His second work, also edited by CNM in 2013, is called “Gentes do Fado” and is completely composed by poems written by Fado singers such as Amália Rodrigues, Fernanda Maria, Frei Hermano da Câmara, Tristão da Silva, Teresa Tarouca and many others. There are even original poems written by Gonçalo Salgueiro, fado singer and producer of this CD.
André Batista’s voice can be listened “…in our Lisbon bohemian nights”. He sings every day at Casa de Linhares, Lisbon.
