Their name pays tribute to Charlie Poole's early influential band, the original The North Carolina Ramblers. Doug & Kinney Rorrer are great nephews of Posey Rorer, who was a fiddler with Poole's band. As of 2018, Kinney Rorrer is the only one of the brothers still in the band.
