Donald McPherson

Effective period / Period of releases: 1994 - 2006

Donald McPherson (June 9, 1967-December 3, 2017) was a New Zealand guitarist and painter who worked largely in improvisation, both as a solo artist and in various band and duo configurations. He initially recorded and released several small run lathe cut records with the first release to bring him a wider audience, "Bramble", released on New Zealand's Metonymic imprint. This led to collaborations including work with Japanese guitarist Tetuzi Akiyama. McPherson formed the trio Three Forks with Sandoz Lab Technicians' Tim Cornelius and Ray Off's James Currin (with whom he'd recorded the album "Liquified") and worked with Rosy Parlane and others before his death in late 2017.
