German emeritus professor for musicology and saxophonist, born 22 January 1938 in Breslau, Germany (today, Wrocław, Poland), died 23 March, 2017, Marburg, Germany.
Since 1973 he was professor at the Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Germany. There he led the institute for musicology and musicpedagogy and found the course of study "Sytematic Musicology". His habilitation treatise, also translated in english and french, counts as first musicological analysis of Free Jazz.
He was the founder and owner of the label Fish Music.
