Per Borin
Real name: Per Magnus Sture Borin
Swedish conductor, born 19 February 1954 in Fellingsbro.He has studied at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Sibelius Academy for, among others, Eric Ericson and Jorma Panula. He has also studied for Herbert Blomstedt and Franco Ferrara. Borin made his debut as an opera conductor in 1985 at the Norrland Opera. He has since been involved with the Vadstena Academy, the Folk Opera and the Royal Opera. Since the 1980s, he has worked with all professional orchestras and choirs in Sweden. He has been conductor of the Musical Society, Linköping Academic Orchestra, St. Jacob's Motet Choir, Stockholm Motet Choir and St. Jacob's Youth Choir. Between 1981 and 1996, he taught conducting at the Royal Academy of Music.
In 1996, he became director general of music in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, director and artistic director of the symphony orchestra and opera. In 1998 he became head of the Schleswig-Holstein Symphony Orchestra in Flensburg. Since 2002, he has been a professor of conducting at the Stuttgart Academy of Music and since 2009 a visiting professor at the Xi'an Conservatory in China.
In the years 2016–2020, Borin was a professor at the Stockholm Opera Academy.
