American trumpet player, flugelhorn player and band leader.

He studied music at the University of Indiana. He left to play on the road with Claude Thornhill, Les Brown, Charlie Barnet, Stan Kenton, and Benny Goodman. He also played in the big bands of Gene Krupa, Sam Donahue, Buddy Rich, and Jimmy Dorsey,
