Tomasz Opoka

Born September 28, 1955 in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Poland; Died September 4, 1984 there). Polish poet and songster. He made his debut at the Sailing Song Festival "Shanties" in 1983, at which he won the Audience Award. Then he was awarded several on the competitions and festivals of tourist and student song. For less than a year of existence on the student song stage, he permanently entered the group of the most outstanding representatives of the ballad genre. His literary works are poems, songs and journalistic articles. His most famous songs are "Mewy", "Morze Północne", and "Co czują żeglarze zimą". In 2009, a biography of Tomasz Opoka was published titled "„Pamiętam tamte mewy ...” - Tomek Opoka" together with album on which artist's archival recordings are located, texts, poems, articles, memories, photos and contemporary interpretations of his songs.
