James Sedlar

James Sedlar, from Calumet, Michigan, was a high-school hockey and football star turned big-band trumpeter. In the 1950's, he played with the Johnny Long Orchestra, then settled in New York as a session musician, Broadway orchestra player and bandleader. His solo career included two Lps for Kapp Records and Dunhill. He appeared on the Tonight Show, the Barbra Streisand Spectacular, and several Jackie Gleason Shows. He has worked on albums for artists such as Jimmy Smith, Ruth Brown, Grant Green, Laura Nyro and Janis Ian.
