Arktis

Effective period / Period of releases: 1973 - 1976

Members: Harry Kottek, Karin Töppig, Klaus Blachut, Klaus Göllner

German hard-rock band, with hints of early Jane, Harlis or even Pancake. Originary from the region of Bonn, Arktis was formed in March 1973 by four musicians that had played in several other bands. Despite 2 self-produced albums released in 1974 and 1975 respectively and much material recorded with Conny Plank they never managed to get a record deal with a bigger label. The original line-up of Arktis (Töppig / Blachut / Göllner / Kottek) was only together until the end of 1975 and then split up. After that Karin Töppig and Harry Kottek continued with other musicians under the name Arktis for a few years and also recorded the album ‘On the Rocks’ (1976).
