From the coal mining town of Wise, Virginia, Hubert and Jeanette Cooke formed the Cooke Duet in the early 1960's. They released their first recording in 1967 with money from an income tax refund. That original album was repressed in 1969 and many more followed at a steady pace from that point forward. Their three sons each joined the group as they became teenagers.
